If you’ve ever done the Cliff Walk at Ballybunion, you’ll recognise this location. On summer evenings we would go to the nearest beach, and in our case it’s Ballybunion in north County Kerry. I love the cliff walk there, and particularly enjoy this tiny, steep inlet - it has since been fenced off for walkers’ safety, but you can still appreciate the vivid movement of the shimmering sea and the majesty of the cliffs in the soft light of a June early evening. This is one of two oil pastel drawings I made on location in Ballybunion. I intend to make more.
